Biden’s Exit Another Triumph for Propagandists

Whatever else one might say about President Joe Biden’s decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race, it’s a major victory. Maybe not for the new nominee. Maybe not for the Democratic Party. Maybe not for the United States. But it’s definitely yet another in an endless series of triumphs for those who call the shots: right-wing propagandists.

They always dictate what the dominant narrative will be on absolutely any issue. And since at least 1988, that has included the framing of Democratic nominees for president. In each case, they hung an albatross of one to three words around the neck of that candidate (usually an albatross that was misleading if not downright dishonest). And in each case, the media gamely piled on.

Michael Dukakis was “soft on crime”.

Bill Clinton was a “draft dodger”.

Al Gore was a “liar”.

John Kerry was a “flip-flopper”.

Barack Obama was a “Kenyan Muslim”.

Hillary Clinton used email.

And of course, Joe Biden was “senile”.

Never mind that his opponent was only slightly younger and showed far greater signs of mental incapacity. The mainstream media, almost without exception, picked up the drumbeat EVERY SINGLE DAY for years, declaring that Biden was too old and unfit for office, while all but ignoring the shortcomings (age-related and otherwise) of the other guy.

And for the most part, the public bought it.

Nonetheless, I had about sixty percent confidence that Biden was going to win reelection despite the relentless narratives and the dismal polls. A great deal can change in a few months. A great deal can change overnight — who would have predicted an assassination attempt on Orange Man?

And contrary to the word of the punditry on both the right and the left, my guess is that the odds are even better for Biden’s replacement on the ballot. For three reasons.

First, the opponent will now be the oldest presidential nominee in the nation’s history; and while you can’t expect the media to give him the same kind of shark orgy they gave Biden (not by a long shot), they’ll probably put at least some focus on his age and unsoundness — and perhaps, with a huge void to fill, even on his thorough inhumanity and indecency.

Second, the novelty-addicted media will now have a juicy new story to focus on: the frantic scramble by Democrats to find a replacement. They can’t resist obsessing over that kind of drama, which at the very least will reduce the time and effort they spend whitewashing and normalizing Former Guy.

And third, the short length of time until election day gives the GQP inadequate opportunity to recalibrate its slime machine. It’s one hundred percent certain that they will come up with a simplistic and dishonest phrase with which to brand the new nominee. But it just won’t have nearly as much time to stick. (And the same goes for the obligatory Russian disinformation campaign.) And that’s very good news.

  1. Yes, it was sad to see Biden turn over the reigns, mainly because before the debate he had taken powerful meds that had a negative effect on him, which is a typical reaction that older people can experience. But, Yup, he seemed much more on the ball as soon as the next day, but since calls for him to drop out of the race also came from many famous and top Democrats, all the fuss must have hurt his pride because he knew that he was more on the ball than voters might think. But the sad fact is, that when something of this sort, is spread and magnified by lies, or just remains shocking in voters’ minds when they cast their votes, the image of Bidens Addelpated’s performance at the debate fill their minds, and many voters (even Democrats) would not have voted for Democrats unless Biden was replaced with someone younger, more energetic, and who also knew what it takes to pass legislation, and Kamla Harris does!

Just think of the fatal monkeywrench thrown into Senator Kerry’s campaign by a group of fellow vets who agreed to pass malicious gossip that painted him as a brutal guy who shot prisoners in the back in Vietnam. However, even though the story was refuted before the election, it was still on voters’ minds as they filled out their ballots, and of course, Kerry lost! And for some reason, to me, Al Gore looked full of emotion and compassion as he connected with voters, but he was amazingly portrayed as being too unaffected and out of touch with voters who asked him important questions that prospective voters always ask–So, knowing all the criticisms had the power to steal a possible victory from him, he agreed to stop counting and let the SCOTUS decide the issue for the benefit of our country.

And this fact makes Biden a political hero because he was able to put aside his pride, to keep 45 from winning and shedding the Constitution to bits, in a very possible second term.

Biden has accomplished more than any other president in modern history, yet he was attacked daily by a well-funded and merciless political MAGA machine. In today’s world news travels fast but so do lies and conspiracy theories, So I’m glad that Biden had the grace to put aside his ambitions, to prevent a lying, wannabe dictator, from winning! Hopefully, 45 will not fool enough voters to win a second term. Because even though numerous controversies and wars have besieged American history, we should be well aware of the danger Trump poses. Unfortunately, through no fault of their own, most middle-class Americans are more concerned about getting work to help pay for their expenses and to put their children through school, So when the MAGA drumbeat promises to make America Great again, they just don’t realize that our country is founded on open-minded values that we often abandon for the sake of money and security. So when demagogues like 35 promise to be their refuge and retribution, the facts are too easily unheard, And just like all fascist dictators Trump is concerned mainly with himself and what he can get out of being President. However if one just consults factcheck.org articles comparing Biden’s accomplishments with Trump’s. One will see that Biden outdid Trump in many significant ways, some of which happened before the pandemic ruined our economy. So check out this article from Factcheck.org. and realize that Trump planted the seeds that recovered our economy while Trump preferred to ignore the seriousness of COVID-19 and spread lies and conspiracy theories used to weaponize the Justice Department against liberals, And to demonize any person or group who might not vote to elect him. Read this link to understand why Biden OK’d the Federal Reserve to raise Interest rates in order to stabilize them–Something that Reagan’s administration also did.

    • Excuse me, I thought I had already posted this article from FactCheck.org which proves Joe has more for our Country than Trump ever has. Here it is again:

WOW, the article I wanted to post will not post. Why is that? Its Biden’s numbers for April 2024,

  2. Perhaps I can just write in the link:

    FactCheck.org

There you will find several articles about Kamala Harris and Biden. Biden’s new numbers as of July 2024 is one article that discusses his contributions to our economy.

  3. Apparently descriptions of the content in any given article work, but that still does not explain why posting a direct link to the article itself is not accepted.

  4. Biden has only caused massive inflation hikes (hello grocery bill!) making it impossible for people to afford things, especially in democratic led cities and states-see California exodus. The border is absolutely out of control. He can’t form an intelligible sentence to save his life. All of his claims of “creating jobs” is mostly on the backs of him allowing people to come back to work from him shutting down the economy because of the vid. Now, Kakkle Harris is the “choice” (even though there was no actual choice made by the people) and she will lead this country down a dark road…big potential for WW3. I think that’s why some people are leaving the US, that and they can’t afford to live here.

    • Pretty much every statement here is misleading or blatantly false. Biden did not cause inflation or high prices — he’s actually helped bring them down. The “California exodus” is mostly a right-wing myth. Biden has made plenty of articulate statements, many off the cuff, as you’d notice if you were paying attention. The border is not “out of control”. And migrations are actually decreasing. And this is a bullshit issue anyway — illegal border crossings are nowhere near the crisis they’re built up to be. Job creation under Biden has actually surpassed pre-pandemic levels. Of course Harris has not been chosen by the people yet — that will happen in November. But she has been selected as the Democratic candidate by a perfectly legal and normal process. Nobody violently stormed the Capitol in an attempt to put her in office. The most bizarre claim of all, however, is that Biden “shut down the economy”because of the pandemic. He didn’t even hold any public office yet.
