Good Old Fashioned Hatred

The Southern Poverty Law Center just reported that in 2010, the number of active hate groups in the U.S. exceeded 1000 for the first time ever. This represents an increase of 66% over the previous 10 years. The report is accompanied by a map listing the names and locations of these organizations.

The state with the most groups (68) is California, but then it’s the most populous state; it’s closely followed by Texas with 59.  But the biggest offenders per capita include (surprise) Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Much of the increase seems to be due to the good ole boys being upset about a black president “taking over” “their” country. But the groups listed also include black separatist factions. Hatred gets more hatred, and there’s an unprecedented amount of begetting going on.

What’s interesting to note also is that many of these groups have worked the word “patriot” into their name.

Clearly, the propagandists have been doing their job.
