The Week In Stupid (June 16-22)

Kristi Noem presented herself as a champion of Native American communities — while suggesting their tribal leaders are not strong enough to take care of their own communities — without mentioning that she has been banned from the lands of all nine indigenous tribes in her state.

Historical revisionist Tim Barton gives us a little history lesson, calling Juneteenth “the end of a Democrat [sic] policy position—slavery—when it was overthrown by a Republican policy position and a Republican president.” So far so good, Tim. Now catch us up on the past 150 years.

Eric Metaxas is a little less kindly disposed toward the occasion: “‘Juneteenth’ is a bitter, cynical, divisive, anti-American joke, foisted on us — like so much else — by the Biden administration. It must not be taken seriously by any American. And should be repealed.” Back in the good old days, we celebrated slavery, not emancipation.

Christian Nationalist Rick Green attributes the assassination of a Minnesota Democratic politician and the attempted assassination of many other liberal figures by a fanatic MAGA lunatic to “a lot of hatred from the left.” We all know that the victims are always to blame.

Radio loudmouth Bradlee Dean insists that there is no such thing as LGBTQ rights: “Criminals do not have rights; they have forfeited their rights when they committed the crime .”

Ted Cruz, aka the Modern Galileo to Tucker Carlson:”Biblically we’re commanded to support Israel.” When Carlson asked, “Is that the country run by Benjamin Netanyahu now?” Cruz responded,”Yes, it is.”

Michele Bachman says hold her beer: “We should all kiss the ground and be so grateful that Benjamin Netanyahu is prime minister.”

And finally this week’s Grand Prize Winner: “I certainly empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. Back then, we had dumb presidents and now we have a president who actually knows how to accomplish America’s national security objectives.” — J. D. Vance

  1. The strangest one of these for me is:  “Juneteenth’ is a bitter, cynical, divisive, anti-American joke, foisted on us — like so much else — by the Biden administration. It must not be taken seriously by any American. And should be repealed.” Back in the good old days, we celebrated slavery, not emancipation.”

By that does he mean that, when the KKK continued to hang “uppity blacks” that was part of the good old days? Or that, when grown men and women were forced to work all day, just for some food and a place to seep,” that was ethical? Or that white plantation owners should be thought of as righteous heroes who mercifully separated families like so many farm animals, and were free to torture and beat their “property,” because these obscenities were moral reasons to mourn the death of those “good old days?”

How far into the land of hate, dishonesty and persecution are people willing to go, when such utter and inhumane parts of American history represents some sort of ethical gold standard?

Perhaps we are only a stone’s throw away, from mimicking Adolf Hitler’s and his torturous murder of six million Jews, (as “the good old days)” when God gave us the right to persecute whomever we pleased in the pursuit of good Christian wealth founded on human bondage?

I just can’t understand why so many people have sunk so low to enshrine immorality, hatred and self righteous murders as parts of the star spangled history that America cherishes, let alone as a large part of those in other countries, who also enjoy beating their chests, over something that only smells worse than it looks!

  2. Anonymous,

It takes three participants to achieve national security objectives in Gaza, which include how to relieve the starving and tortured the survivors of attacks on Gaza. And also rewarding thousands of them with safety at the hands of Trump’s superior knowledge of negotiations, while scolding those on each side for their selfish attitudes, such as Zelensky, who was so “selfish’ that he expressed a desire which involved asking for Russian assurances that they would not attack Ukraine again–And after all, it would be hard to negotiate Peace while staring into the eyes of unfairness, (military attacks), and texts from those who allowed Russian bots a chance to post propaganda on Facebook, which might then lead to the election of a Mafia king who remains in the the white house today.
