This week’s honor goes to the many, many MAGA Cultists who responded with hyperventilation and pants-wetting over the victory of Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim, in New York City’s mayoral primary. The outpourings of stupid were voluminous and extreme, but perhaps they were best exemplified by Laura Loomer, who declares herself a “proud Islamophobe”:
So I think too, what’s gonna happen if we start witnessing synagogues and churches get firebombed by Black Lives Matter and antifa and Muslims, right? Like Palestinian rioters? Zohran Mamdani is gonna stand with those people…

The Propaganda Professor 
It’s always been much easier to pretend that we all have inalienable rights, if your rights are not like mine. To remain a viable democracy we must lets the ideas of the founding fathers sink in, rather then claiming others are denying our rights just by disagreeing with us. Wasn’t it WH Auden who once wrote, “That’s the way the world ends, not with a bang but a whisper?”
