The Week In Stupid (July 28-August 3)

The big riot in Stupidtown this week was over an ad for jeans starring Sydney Sweeney. (Who??) Some progressive folks saw it as a racist dog whistle, and maybe they had a point. (I don’t really think so.) But their reactions at worst were silly. The counter-reaction from the MAGA crowd drove deep into Stupid Territory. The same wingers who had been on a rampage because there was too much “”wokeism” in Barbie and and Superman and M&M’s and everything else in the sun were pissing their pants over them librulz taking issue with a commercial. “You can’t even be racist any more without The Left coming down on you”, they said. Well, that’s not literally what they said, but that sums up the gist of their reaction. Perhaps the dumbest line of all was (surprise) on Fox: “Liberals hate hot people.”

Meanwhile “Christian” social media influencer Lilly Gaddis openly acknowledges racism as a vital component of a world conquest strategy: “Be racist. Make money. Laugh in their faces. Reclaim your country.”

Rep. Mike Collin’s (R-GA) launched his campaign for Senate with an ad unveiling his slogan, “Georgia, let’s ride.” Except it actually said “Georiga”, misspelling the name of his state.

“My job as a congresswoman is not to make sure that you are healthy and safe.” — Lauren Boebert. You don’t say.

“A big answer to why America is so unhealthy is abortion.” — Frank Pavone

Well, well, Glenn Beck is back already. After spending the past decade licking the boots of the Felon-In-Chief, he now express his frustration with the “stupid” people who don’t understand why the country is in the mess it’s now in.

Charlie Kirk is becoming a regular too: “The Jezebel spirit has just infected an entire generation of young ladies.”

In fact, he often appears more than once: “Was just in NYC with our family. Never felt safe. So many people in the city who don’t belong. Praying for all involved.” Well, Charlie, there was definitely one person who didn’t belong among civilized people.

“Making a profit off anti-semitism is absolutely genius. T—p realizes that if a problem doesn’t go away, you simply monetize it. So, if we can’t stop this war, a war that we’re sending arms to, well, let’s get paid. You know, global trade, often times not that fair to us, let’s throw a price tag on it.” — Greg Gutfeld

Finally, a big fat Stupid Award to the Smithsonian, for caving to the Convicted Criminal by removing his name from an exhibit on impeachment — even though he’s been impeached as much as all other presidents combined. Now the exhibit will only mention Bill Clinton, Andrew Johnson, and Richard Nixon — who was not impeached.

  1. Another one of mine was not allowed to be posted, most likely due to the objections of those who think they understand the meaning of the first Amendment.

  2. Whoever keeps removing my comments must not understand the meaning of the first Amendment, and must think that since my views may differ from theirs, that means I am denying their first Amendment rights. But its not about all that at all!

Americans do not have to agree with each other, even if they have no facts to prove their own beliefs. And we do noy even have to like others to honor all of theirs and our civil law. But when Trumpers deny anything that non-Trumpers say, which really are factual and true, they are echoing the words of the farm animals in “Animal Farm”—who as the most important beings in George Orwell’s novel affirm that, “All animals are equal, but some animals are (more equal) than others.” This kind of rationalization used by autocrats and dictators to make common people believe that their enemies everywhere can only acquiesce if they are protected by fearless leaders like Trump, who have the knowledge and moral right to spread facts and rational information—therefore making all the people willing to accept their lies, and also keep the will of all Americans malleable in the hands of their Autocratic political saviors!

Imagine if both you and I were walking down a beautiful road, with a bright sunny sky full of beautiful clouds, and if I disagree, with you, saying that I don’t see any clouds or sunlight, there is no way to convince you otherwise, since some political leaders claim to speaks the only truth which they encourage us to accept? Don’t you see how relying only on subjective faith to base facts upon, makes it possible for all sides to sneak some factual 18 wheelers, past the subjective reasoning used by members of other “Tribes–some of whom only accept what they are told by their chosen leaders,”

Perhaps all of us have accepted blind faith at some point because it is easier to rationalize beliefs with the ideas we want to believe. However, the human race need not composed of hostie warring tribes that are doomed to annihilate the others. Such, reasoning may make it easier for all of us to think we are right, especially after throwing away our trust in both facts and reason! But in fact, it will make it much harder for us to get along with others unless we understand that they are protected by the 1st Amendment as well.

I know it was not this blog’s owner who removed my comments, so it grieves me to see that so many powerful people are wasting precious time in order to discredit all facts and beliefs held by others. Our fourth Amendment right to privacy, is being attacked because Musk has collected all the medical and personal data about every last one of us, and we are now forcing children from others religions and countries to feel uneasy by forcing them to read the 10 commandments on the walls of classrooms used to teach science and math. And by the way, no Christian can stop another from practicing his or her faith, even in public schools– because as free Americans we all have always had the right to choose our own beliefs anyway. What the Courts ruled against was using school settings to make others accept the religious and cultural beliefs of others by creating classes that all students (must take). And all of our students have always had he right to pray quietly to themselves in private area of their schools anyway.

So not only is the radical right trying to remake human sins by using their own imaginations, but they are also weakening our fist amendment rights to believe in the doctrines and truths that we and/our parents choose. But, if we try to make everyone else conform to our beliefs then Musk and Trump will have won. In reality none of the “woke” beliefs and philosophies that Trumpers use to stereotype those on the left, are really being enforced at all. However they are being used as propaganda against liberals, because every right wing power man benefits from spreading ideas that affirm their own illusions! But in reality, none of the horrible charges made against Democrats has a grain of truth to them, except that they can be used as valuable propaganda to help Fascists and Autocrats re-make the minds of ordinary people so that they are open to the tenants’ of radical right philosophies.

So remember to look beyond the surface claims if our nation continues to deteriorate to the point where Trump and his sycophants control everything! Because if they succeed, none of our valuable science and technological advances will ever be used to open peoples minds to reject apocalyptic endings until they can no longer able to preserve a sustainable a future!

from seeing the forest for he trees.

      • Yes now they are here. Right after I posted them, I was flashed a sign saying you cannot comment here. The thing is that Musk is a computer genius who has all of our personal data at this fingertips and I don’t doubt he has set up some system to flag anti-trump comments, and thus keep them from being shared.

  3. I saw a short clip of the Sweeny ad, and I’ve got to say she looked great! However if she did not want the ad to be televised I am willing to believe that it was made at a time when she was significantly younger than she is now. But I don’t think that’s a great sin, and she has a figure to be proud of! The ad was also well within the bounds of dignity and in no way pornographic, but I guess many of us in either party are so determined to make the other guys look bad, and condemn those on the other side for doing common things at some point in their lives, that tendency says nothing about how right wing or left wing celebrities might feel. I might also ad that many liberals have photographs like that made, and I don’t believe they have any greater right, or any greater guilt, to bear from just being normal young Americans. Melania also had some revealing photo shoots, but politics should not be used to gang up on anyone who did what most models do as part of their careers. Now if we talk about inflation, Covid, the burdens that the BBB will have on lower income people, that’s fine, but what happens to many celebrities is hardly earthshaking, so what?

  4. Thanks for making sure they were posted. Even if my worse suspicions are eventually confirmed I really have no power to change them just by screaming louder than anyone else!

  5. I’d also like to correct something I wrote in my second post on this thread:

However, the human race need not composed of hostie warring tribes that are doomed to annihilate the others.

Of course what I meant to say is–“However the human race need not be composed of hostile warring tribes that are doomed to annihilate the others.”

I made a few other clunkers in that comment as well but I think readers can discern what I meant.

I’d also like to end this comment with a quote from a very wise person who said: “I don’t know how WWIII will be fought, but I know that WW IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”–a sobering thought that we must remember in order not to repeat the folly of our hated before we loose everything! Einstein was a true pacifist and was greatly disturbed about how his amazing discoveries about matter and energy were used. He would say, “One army attacks another army with weapons of war. knowing it will injure very large groups of innocent people, and then the other Army will retaliates against it using destructive weapons to kill very large numbers of the others.” He had hoped the theory of relativity would be used to harness very large amounts of energy to be used peacefully by all mankind.

What Einstein concluded is that we will not change the future by repeating the same actions again and again. So we must change the ways we think if we are to shed the hatred which can kill us all!

I’m not sure if my quotes of Einstein are word for word correct, but I think the way I passed them on to others is close to being exact!
