Well POP, as you have made clear, Religious violence throughout human history has not only been tolerated, but at times has defined as “righteous “virtue. And its still true that battles fought over who’s got the one right, or correct faith, are occurring in many areas of the world and costing millions of innocent lives
The Christian Nationalists seem to have interpreted Gods teachings as something that promotes violence in ignorant or absurd ways, it’s presumed to make them holier than throw when they promote that kind ignorance. So they violently oppose “sinners,” by believing that religious love and compassion, are only virtues unless unless anyone has other views and conviction’s that really contain little compassion or love. However they often try and convince others of being way to extreme because only their religious leaders can define, speak and understand Gods intentions. Its all glorified circular reasoning served up as the only real truths that exists– Unfortunately, many people who run the governed know how to play to their sympathies about how ,Christian Nationalist expect to push their “one true, way” views of heaven on everyone just to be considered the only “righteous” believers. But it all starts by accepting untrue assumption’s that are very hard to let go of, because it they have been enforce during every Church sermon and delivered by those who know that such a difficult to understand truth must be test to be considered real. May they eventually frolic in green pastures rather than reality, but none of us has to agree under the first amendment or with someone who has ever really know love!
