The U.S. Department of Defense (which badass Pete wants to call the Department Of War) issued a revised list of “recognized” religions, decreasing the number from 211 to 31 (mostly Christian). Among those no longer to be “recognized” were Unitarians, Wiccans, Atheists, and Deists.

Since some of America’s greatest thinkers and historical figures (including Ralph Waldo Emerson) were Unitarians, and most of the Founders of the nation were Deists, it’s hardly surprising that Pete doesn’t recognize them.
