Headlines About the Ambush of Zelenskyy

Whether you watched any footage of it or not, you know by now what happened. Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy came to Washington in good faith, and walked into the White House expecting to have a productive meeting with the U.S. president and vice president. Instead, he was viciously and shamelessly ambushed byThe First Felon and his first-in-line bootlicker , who hurled puerile schoolyard insults at him, arrogantly lectured him for not saying “thank you” for aid already received (which he has dozens of times), and even insulted him for not wearing a suit. Yes, this is the same White House where President Elon Musk frequently appears in a T-shirt and baseball cap.

But if you were actually so naive as to think you were going to get anything resembling accurate coverage of this embarrassing debacle from the mainstream media– well, I hope you finally learned your lesson. Here’s a representative sampling of the headlines afterward.

This is bothsidesism at its absolute worst. “Angry spat”. “Blowup”. “Fiery Meeting”. “Heated Meeting”. “Clash”. “Disagreement”. “Disaster”. “Undiplomatic Exchange”. The wording of these headlines gives the distinct impression that Zelenskyy was equally to blame, or even more so. And these were the more mainstream and (allegedly) neutral news sources. You can imagine what a field day the more openly right-wing outlets had.

To be fair, some of the stories referenced here were a bit more discerning and accurate in the actual body of the story — though few if any of them adequately conveyed the inexcusable nastiness, childishness, petulance, arrogance, ignorance and stupidity of the attack. But the headlines are a different matter altogether. And the headlines, alas, are the only thing that a great many people notice and/ or remember. The individuals who crafted these headlines were irresponsible at best; and most likely, many of them were being deliberately disingenuous.

May their drafty and dingy little corner of hell with floors of broken glass be frequented by orange-faced demons subjecting them to nonstop drivel about windmills, sharks, batteries, Hannibal Lecter, and transgender mice.

  1. I love this article!

I saw the whole debacle on CNN and tried to comment on a commenting thread underneath one of Yahoo’s current news stories. What seemed most egregious and odious to me was the fact that Zelenski had not yet signed the agreement and just asked if he could receive reassurance that Russia would not attack them first, but was immediately berated and insulted for ruining the deal!

Webster’s Dictionary defines the word negotiation as:

“The act or practice of using negotiations, in which (each side) gives up something to reach an agreement) i.e. “it will take some negotiation, but I think we can get (each side) to agree to a cease-fire.”

So, Zelensky made efforts to ask for concessions such as a guarantee that Russia will not attack Ukraine again! Yet Trump and Vance scolded Zelenski like a spoiled child after he quite reasonably asked if Ukraine could receive such a guarantee before he signed–sounds pretty reasonable, because the goal was to establish permanent peace for all parties? Didn’t Ukraine’s conditions also need to be considered along with those of Putin and Trump before that agreement was signed?

What were Trump and Vance so pissed about?–having the candy cane jerked out of their mouths and being forced acknowledge Ukraine’s understandable need for just that kind of agreement (before singing anything)–Just as I am sure Trump has asked other parites who were suing him for fraud to gaurantee the legitimacy of only his interests and forget theirs? Then there is the pesky fact that Russia invaded Ukraine first, killing thousands and wounding many others, simply because Zelensky insisted that his country did not belong to Russia?

Unfortunately, Trump is being influenced by his buddy Putin, who probably considers using future mining rights to please primarily himself. Then here is also the fact that Putin is an Autocrat with the powers of a spoiled dictator, who tends to make Russian dissidents and activists mysteriously disappear if they refused to march in perfect cadence with his ambitions. Still, it’s uncertain if that’s all Trump wants, (just for himself)? If he is allowed to demolish our democracy, we might as well quit voting, or trying to establish any laws approved by the full Congress. So then, that will be the utter end of our democracy, and probably any hope of world stability. Trump would then, probably be our president until he dies, and will win each election by a magnificent 99% of the popular vote, while holding his supporters in a fog as he spreads “righteous anger” and scapegoats any convenient demographic to energize the support of the millions in his base. A genuine Democracy would never allow such a future, but nobody who loves Trump seems to care!!

  2. Again this would not post at the place I commented on a more recent article;

Actually Some of the comments made by those on the extreme right are easy to understand as awkward statements made by politicians like Dick Cheney who told us he had other priorities than military service. But many of us who were in college also had other priorities, such as moving to Canada, being classified as pacifists, or being those who were ordered to destroy a village to save it?” But despite all our military might we just could not neutralize the Viet Cong into surrendering! So we saw our future as needlessly sacrificing American lives for the benefit of military Hawks who probably put a few good word to help their own children deal with the draft board, That might be neither right nor wrong because more that 100 years ago, Confederates and Yankees paid for exceptions as the powerful used their influence to spare their own children from such a grim fate. However, even during Vietnam we were young and loved to party and drink which could not remove being drafted, and rejected while taught to kill those we personally knew nothing about and never considered enemies. People like Muhomid Ali and Abraham Lincoln’s wife, ,Mary Todd Lincoln tried to exempt her son from being part of the war. Todd was burning to fight even though in response to his wife, President Lincoln initially protected Todd from enlisting but eventually let Todd join others who were fighting during the Civil War.

All my friends got high draft numbers but I got a much lower one, and therefore was likely to be drafted. But at the time, an illness that’s plagued me for entire life, offered me the possibility of getting the deferment I needed – after being poked and prodded, while letting government physicians determined if I was fit enough to fight and kill. But (by 1970) almost none of us supported the war anymore.

Personally, I prefer the idea an all voluntarily military that offers to fight for our government if they truly believes in its cause is the best way to raise and army. in fact, during the early years in Iraq and Afghanistan many Americans were volunteers who believed in doing what they considered their patriotic duty, at least until public support began fading away, and the War was considered more and more as just a political boondoggle that survived only because, we used superior weapons and bombs. As for as who represents the middle class, I have also thought that people who make more than $59,000 per year represented a demarcation line. Thus, when the right wing keeps promising to reduce taxes for the middle class, I anticipated that their definition of that word would include earning at least $300,000 per year. And because Senator Heinerman assigned the highest middle classified earnings at $750,000 per year, those of us who truly represent the middle class can only slap our knees with laughter at such an absurd evaluation. When I was a teen I earned $1.60/ hour—about $12 a day or about $240 for a month of 5 day work weeks. And when my dad survived the depression he earned much less than that. So will lower, middle and even some upper class people today earn relatively less as a result of the Mr T’s Big Beautiful Bill?

Bush’s words, “I know how hard it is to put food on your family,” sounds like a typical gaffe in which Bush’s mind trailed off before the word “table.” Are there any of us who haven’t made similar gaffes?

And did he claim to understand small businesses because he had one, not because “he was one,” as the result of another gaffe—all of which is only good for producing giggles from the children’s table?

Haven’t we all accidentally used a wrong word to describe something.

One thing we’ve got to give credit for Bush is, his early warnings about not hating the many peace loving Muslims who often are American citizens, not with a group, of dark skinned countrymen who broke the law by crossing a street before the walk sign came on?

However, I have no respect for Rush Limbaugh who rushes into making comments intended as ways to stir up hatred for those who supposedly brought the Twin Towers down. I first knew of him in the 1990s after hearing a radio broadcast in which he ranted and raved about women who wanted him to apologize after farting inside a moving car?—what?– That’s such an incredibly important and earth shattering example of discrimination against Those who just want us to open our eyes while they subjected us to Jewish jet trail attacks and farting in small spaces! Right!…err…right?

Although Dan Quail came across as being “plastic” at first he did do something I and many other educated people have—we spelled the word potato with an “e” on the end of it—who knew that terrible truth?

However who doesn’t feel the urge to to smoke that hippie dope stuff, like them guys we strung up it this tree last night did. That away to go KKK!

About the idea that its supposedly illegal to pray, you covered the topic well in one of your articles by affirming that anyone has always had the right to pray in public i.e. By going into an empty classroom or by finding a private corner where you can be by yourself. Who’d thunk it, even while worshiping publicly at their own Church. What the law says is that no one has the right to push an organized religious meeting, down anyone’s throat unless they are members of an voluntary club who meets with the schools permission occasionally to discuss matters of faith—something they want to do and try to force others to do. If every religious faith except mine is obviously a spokesman or the Anti Christ who has to be nice to them—you know like Jesus asked us go be? But just forget your catholic neighbors, or the Presbyterians across the street, or those who want you to try helping others and being good sanitarians as Jesus told us to even though foreign countries are nothing more that pawns of Satan—they can’t fool us!

But one other thing that is paramount to everyone’s faith, is that, if our wives don’t understand what is said by their minister, its the huband’s duty o explain it to them!
